Someone Is Counting On You August 13, 2026 |
Hi BrotherSomeone Is Counting On YouThere’s a reason I’ve never been comfortable with the idea that taking care of yourself is somehow selfish. I think the opposite is true. At this stage of life, staying strong is a responsibility. Because whether you realize it or not... someone is counting on you. Maybe it’s your wife. Your kids. Your grandchildren. A friend who calls you when life goes sideways. Maybe nobody has ever actually said the words. They don’t need to. They just expect you to be there. And being there means more than still having a pulse. It means being capable. Being able to carry something heavy when another pair of hands is needed. Being able to get down on the floor and get back up again. Being able to travel, work, help, protect, play, think clearly and handle your own damn life. It means not slowly handing your responsibilities to somebody else because your body can no longer carry them. That changes the way I think about strength. I don't train because I'm frightened of getting older. And I certainly don't train because I'm trying to look 25. That ship sailed, sank, and is probably now home to several families of fish. I train because there are things I still intend to do. People I intend to be there for. And a life I have absolutely no intention of watching from the sidelines. That's a very different reason to stay strong. A bigger chest is nice. Another plate on the bar is satisfying. But neither is the real prize anymore. The prize is capacity. Having enough physical reserve that when life suddenly asks something of you... you don't have to wonder whether your body can answer. It can. That's why the work you're doing now matters far beyond the gym. Every bit of strength you keep. Every piece of mobility you protect. Every year you remain physically capable. You're not just building a better body. You're reducing the amount of your life somebody else may eventually have to carry for you. And there's something deeply honorable about that. We spend the first half of life building things. A career. A family. A home. A reputation. The second half asks a different question: Can you remain strong enough to keep participating in everything you built? That's the standard I'm interested in. Not looking younger. Not pretending age doesn't exist. Being there. Standing up. Still useful. Still capable. Still carrying your share. Because someone is counting on you. Make sure they can. — Psymon “The 1-Hour Breakthrough Call for Men Over 50”If you’re feeling the slow fade—energy down, strength slipping, results stalling—this 1-hour strategy session cuts straight to what’s holding you back.
